live room

The 850 sq ft Live Room has been carefully planned and acoustically designed by Recording Architecture, and is a large, comfortable and flexible space for up to 30 musicians.

The irregular shaped room’s floor is entirely floating, and the acoustics are easily and instantly variable with an innovative system of adjustable roof panels, making the characteristics suitable for a wide range of applications.

The room is two storeys tall, with a balcony at one end where it is easy to place ambient microphones or set up individual musicians, with a Spiral Staircase leading down onto the gorgeous solid oak floor of the main room. The adjustable acoustic panels can be used to help isolate the balcony if required. Underneath the balcony is an isolation booth, plenty large enough to house a drum kit or the studios wonderful, fully restored Bösendorfer Imperial Grand piano (formerly AIR ‘Oxford Street’ Studios).

The mic cupboard is brimful with a selection of desirable classic and modern models, including more than a dozen vintage valve microphones.

An Aviom personal mixing system enables comprehensive foldback control for musicians. Communication is enhanced between studio and control room with comprehensive video linkage in both directions. A custom Trilogy talkback system allows the live room to be utilised by any of the adjacent White Rooms production suites when available.
